Writing With Grandma Savvy

Back in the days when my children were in diapers (and believe me, there were several in diapers at one time – there were eight little kids running around the house who were all different ages!) It seems like there was never an end to baby diapers and bottles back then, but a few years passed by and it all faded away. Those same little ones back then are now producing babies now, and the diaper and feeding saga is on once again! And Grandma is taking the slack off these tired, bedraggled mama’s who just don’t measure up to the kind of mama I once was years ago! And one or two of these mama’s only have one baby to care for – I had eight!

Looking back – that was over twenty years ago, I spent at least four hours a day writing stories, and submitting them to different markets. Rejections were constant but in the midst of all those rejection letters, I received hundreds of published pieces – most were paid in copies but that was a good thing. With over six hundred published credits in two hundred or so small press publications – it sure looked good on my writing resume – the clips added up! Between the dirty dishes and dirty laundry, sick kids and washing cloth diapers out by hand and hanging them on a clothesline in the sun, I found time to write. I made time to write.

This Grandma is still tending to kids when I can and pursuing a career in writing like there is no tomorrow! Why? Because it is what I do – it’s what I have always done for many years. Writing is my refuge, my strength, my way of life. Take it away from me and you might as well put me out to pasture because writing is my pressure valve! Tending to kids is another part of my life that I love to do… but just not anyone’s kids! They’re either mine or my grandchildren – there isn’t enough time for any others, I’m afraid.

Writing is a wonderful talent and a great way to earn money – in different kinds of ways. I write press releases, ad copy and things like this every day of my life for a variety of reasons – I don’t always get a byline for my work but still earn money from it nevertheless. When there is time, I write for a variety of markets and earn a little cash here and there, as well as a credible byline and a published clip. So I am still writing – it’s just a different way of earning money from it.

The nest is empty these days and the grand kids come at least three or four times a week – I make time for them in spite of my work. If they call me and need me for something, they know they can count on me if I am the only solution. At the same time, I make time to write as well. That’s what we writers do – we make time. This Grandma might be getting older, but she hasn’t stopped writing and probably never will. With the dawn of disposable diapers and all the new-fangled gadgets that are supposed to make our life easier, why can’t these new-aged mama’s find time for extra activities like writing? If I had had some of these things back twenty five years ago, there’s no telling how many books I would have published by now! Or how many I would have completed.

At the present time, this Grandma is editing four completed novels and a reference guide for writers – my plan was to have them on the market by the first of last year but I am behind schedule and will bump it up to next year. In the meantime, I am working on two new novels and a variety of articles for a series of travel websites and markets. That’s what I do everyday of my life – I write. That’s how I stay sane – I write!

And in order for you to become a professional writer with published clips under your belt, it’s time to write like there is no tomorrow! Don’t wait till you’re a grandma – what’s wrong with right now? The babies have to nap sometimes. Why not then? Get up an hour earlier and write for thirty minutes and breathe in the fresh morning air another thirty minutes – free your mind of the cobwebs and the excuses that hold you back.

There’s no time like the present to start writing that short story you want to submit to that contest or that romance suspense novel that’s been bouncing around in your head for the last few years. Start writing now!

Write with the savvy or a mama at war to tackle the day jobs or with a grandma savvy that gets the job done! Just write!!!

Make the Most of Your B-School Campus Visit

You wouldn’t buy a house you hadn’t seen in person first, would you? With the average total cost of an MBA education at the most elite business schools creeping upwards of $300,000, it makes good sense to visit the campus to get to know a program beyond its ranking.

During a visit, you’ll observe the general routine of students, get a feel for in-class dynamics, and be better able to imagine yourself as a part of the community where you will spend the next two years.

As former applicant blogger Mango, now in her first year at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, puts it, “School visits are a lot like online dating-you may have built up in your mind this amazing idea of what a school is like, but you can’t really make a decision of whether it is right for you until you go and visit and have that interaction.”

Some admissions departments, such as those at Harvard Business School and Stanford University Graduate School of Business, are quick to point out that a campus visit is not a requirement and has no bearing on admissions decisions.

Other schools, such as the relatively remote Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, do take note of who has made the effort to visit in person because diligence is a strong signal that a candidate is serious about that particular school.

Spring is an ideal time to schedule your school visits. It makes little sense to check out the campus during summer, when classes aren’t in session, because one key characteristic you want to observe is the interaction between students and faculty. While on campus, make sure you check out the whole university because its entire resources may someday be available to you.

Through the MBA admissions office, you can schedule a visit that typically includes an information session, the option of attending a class, and a chance to chat with a current student over coffee or a meal. During the class visit, take note of the dynamic between the students and professor before and after class, as this can be an indicator of how close-knit and collaborative the community is.

In some cases, the admissions office may be able to put you in contact with a student with similar career goals, which provides an ideal way to learn more specifics about the program as it relates to your professional needs.

Talking to current students is the best way to learn about the program. And don’t just talk to a couple of people-this is too big a decision to make without first experiencing a variety of conversations and points of view while on campus. Politely explain to students that you’re trying to get a feel for the community and would like to know more about why they chose this particular school-and chances are excellent they will be happy to share their insights with you.

The MBA-focused website Poets & Quants has a great list of essential questions to ask when you visit a b-school, such as: “What is one thing you would change about the school?” “How often do you interact with professors outside of the classroom?” “Have you developed relationships with alumni during your time here?”

Married b-school hopefuls, especially those with young children, should also attempt to find out how family-friendly the MBA program is to get a better idea of what life in their situation would be like.

A huge part of the b-school experience is the social aspect, which helps forge the strong network you’ll rely on after graduation. While visiting the school, find out where students go to relax and unwind-typically the local watering holes, as MBAs do enjoy their potent libations!

If you can stay for a few days, try to immerse yourself in the social scene and connect with students who are interested in the same activities you hope to become involved in. Often you’ll learn more about your fit with a particular school over these types of encounters than during an official admissions tour.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to plan your visit before applying, once you’ve been invited to interview, or after you’ve received an offer of admission is a personal one. Each has its merits, and barring the prohibitive expense of multiple visits, would be worthwhile.

Whichever option you choose, figuring out for yourself how a particular program suits your needs is a crucial step in the b-school application process.

Teen Career Planning – Help Your Teen To Start Early

Teens have to decide on the career that they want to pursue and their college major, not necessarily in that order. Deciding upon a college major is a difficult task by itself and takes time. Similarly, deciding upon a career path is a process that should start when the teen is still in high school and continue as that person moves into college. The reason being that career choices are fluid and young people are bound to discover new things about themselves, their likes and dislikes and skills as they go along though studies.

Selecting the right career is never an easy matter. Career planning is a process that involves several steps, particularly when it is for a teen. Both universities and business organizations have designed programs for teenagers to assist them in identifying suitable options and making a right choice of career. Such guidance can be obtained by making a payment from a university, by a student as well as any member of the public. The guide can include a questionnaire and information about several careers. The questionnaire helps the person to narrow the choices based on several criteria. A program that has been designed well could also throw light on several career choices that the person may not have known about, effectively broadening his or her horizon. Also, as young people are not clear about the growth path of different careers, they also gain clarity on this issue.

Career counselors and teenage counselors have always said that young people and college students must select a career based on their own interest and skills, not due to pressure of family or peers or some image that may have of a particular career. Thus the so called ‘best’ careers may not always be the right choice. Career planning for teens is a process that will try to dissuade them from such a career unless it suits the individual for reasons mentioned earlier. So many websites and magazines may list hottest jobs, best jobs for collegiates and those with highest salary and perks. However, this is not the right way to decide upon a career and hot jobs should not become an automatic choice for a teen or a young job seeker.

The process of career planning for teens exists to make sure that they select the career path and college program that is best for them as an individual. A lot of young believe, quite wrongly, that they will be stuck with the career choice that they make now, through out their life. Nothing could be more different. People change their career at several stages during their life. So, a career that is chosen now due to a college major or a training program can be changed later. However, career planning for teens goes a long way in ensuring that there is not much heart burn later.

The ‘HOW-TO’ to Train a Dog Effectively to Behave

Dogs are adorable but an untamed dog could turn out to be a nightmare. Dogs are animals like any others and without proper instruction they are likely to behave like one as well. It is not uncommon to hear dog owners complaining that their dogs trash the house, dig holes in the lawn, growl at people or even bite them. This can be easily avoided by proper dog training. Below are the tips on how to train and raise a responsible canine citizen

Obedience training:

Dogs are pack animals and will tend to follow the leader of the pack to ensure successful training: there must be a chain of command. In obedience training it is important to ensure that your dog knows that you are the boss. This can be easily done by being the leader through instructing and praising the dog for good behavior, this will ensure the dog sees you as the Alpha dog and will adhere to any instructions you give it.

House training;

House training entails ensuring that your dog does certain activities in designated areas. For proper house training entails;

– Confining your puppy to a specific area in the house when unsupervised.

– Ensure your puppy has a nice comfortable bed in his/her area of choice and ensure they are comfortable by providing water and petting them in such areas gives a sense of security.

– Choose a specific toilet command and at times when your puppy is due to pee or poop you lead them to its toilet place and repeat the command to urge the desired result.

In house training patience and spending a lot of time with your puppy will help in speeding up the process by knowing its behavior when it wants to go to the toilet. Positive feedback when the pup does the correct thing enhances adherence to behavior.

The sit command

The sit command is a fundamental dog training technique as it helps you control your dog and is the first step toward successful future training. Should be done in a quiet place without distractions and to ensure you have your dog’s attention have treats. Make sure you make your commands in a calm and firm tone. Use the same command and same tone of voice and if the dog understand and obeys, offer it the treat.

The down command

Once you have successfully taught your dog to sit you proceed to the down command that is crucial in calming a frightened dog or soothe aggressive behavior. Tell your dog to sit then bring a treat to its nose and lower it to the ground and its head will follow once it is in position command “down” then give it a treat. Repeat the procedure till you achieve the desired goal.

The stay command

After your dog has mastered the sit and down command incorporate the stay command by instructing your dog to sit then raise your palm and command them to stay if they do give them a treat if not repeat again.

Leash training

Leash training can be one of the most frustrating dog training techniques. Many dog owners have tried leash training their dogs with minimal success. This may be because they are doing it all wrong. The first step in dog training is you ensure your dog is comfortable with the leash. Using barbaric collars won’t help in the long run as it may cause aggression. Initially train your dog in the house let it wear the leash for as long as it can to get familiarized. For every time the dog stays close to you during the training session give it a treat to enforce behavioral change. In the first stages of leash training avoid the outdoors as there are numerous distractions that will inhibit the learning process. For best results ensure that you make the training sessions short and scheduled: this makes learning easier and fun.

Grooming training: This dog training technique is ideal for pups as their behaviors can be easily altered, but it can also be done on older dogs. In dog grooming training it is important that once you bring your dog home you accustom it to constant touching and inspection. This can be easily done by ensuring you are constantly holding it and checking its paws, mouth ears. These simple gestures will prepare the dog for future grooming and clipping sessions.

Dog training is not easy patience and positive feedback is crucial in making the process successful.

Hiring a Business Coach That Facilitates Substantial Growth

Running any business alone can be self-fulfilling for every entrepreneur but equally as tough and impossible to successfully manage. With this in mind, hiring a business coach is always a smart move because the opinion of an expert enables and facilitates businesses to reach their full potential. The business coaching industry in the US has grown in recent decades to a worth of over $12 billion highlighting its impact and the need to find the best business coach for your business so as to unlock maximum potential.

Even the best business coaches require the services of other business coaches to effectively understand, explore and take advantage of the many specifics in their individual business set ups.

Hiring a qualified coach can improve leadership and facilitate expansion in domains of fundraising and project management. However, there exist many important considerations in finding the best or ideal coach for your business. These considerations include;

Cost

Cost is a very important consideration in the selection of an ideal business coach and it most often depends on factors like specialty, of expertise and location. Although experts are usually very expensive, it’s possible to find affordable cost effective coaches. For and other social businesses, investing time and effort could easily find low pay experts who could offer coaching services as support of causes. Before even setting out in search of a coach, it’s necessary to study your budget and clearly allocate what can be used for coaching services so as to prevent over-extension into debt.

Best Business Fit

When sampling potential coaches for any business, key to make sure those with the best fit for your business are the target. For example, hiring an ideal non-profit coach would entail narrowing to affordable coaches in the social business domain with proven track records of success. This can be assisted by personal and social feedback recommendations in combination with actual discussions with these potential coaches.

Possible Time Engagement with Coach

This is a slightly complicated consideration when looking at getting a business coach because the dedicated time engagements are usually very much dependent on expertise, and location. However, ensuring the arrangement of quality and long enough time with your coach increases the effectiveness of the relationship. Furthermore, time for meetings and follow up work must be set aside to make the best out of the coaching.

Preparedness for Change

In order to set up for maximum benefits from engagement with a business coach, it is essential to be prepared for significant changes. This is the productivity of the relationship doesn’t only depend on the quality of advice from the coach but also on the preparedness of the management to listen and make changes with respect to this.

Hiring a social business coach can give and other social entrepreneurs the extra edge required for substantial growth, but their services would have to be cost effective, best fitting, and available.Their advice will also need to be and implemented for results to be eminent.

The many benefits associated with hiring the ideal business coach can be summarized under the following points;

Extra, Required Motivation

The one great quality almost every business coach will offer is relentless motivation and getting business owners unstuck when stepping into their own way. No matter the self-motivation possessed by the owner of any business, moments arrive when it’s almost impossible to apply this self-motivation. In times like this, an all-important push to recovery from a professional is required even if it’s simply in the form of confirming something already in your mind and plans.

Unafraid with Unbiased Opinion

A very important asset carried by business coaches is the ability to always provide unbiased opinions that are often absent in the management setting of many businesses. Furthermore, not being afraid to offer correction and confrontation to founders is very beneficial to every business as it often leads to solutions that others close to the business would have missed.

Stepping Outside Comfort Zones

In the absence of a business coach, it is very easy for business introvert managements to become overly comfortable and engulfed in their own ideas and goals limiting for expansion. Seasoned business coaches will encourage adventure and the trying out of new things that could be of help for your business and also curb over eagerness for extrovert entrepreneurs that could end up with being caught ruts. Moving out of your comfort zones with encouragement from your business coach breeds confidence which is usually translated to the achievement of very big goals.

Support in the Identification of Strengths and Weaknesses

An experienced business coach offers the capability of identifying patterns that assist in the discovery and exploitation of your strengths while taking note and addressing weaknesses. The outside perspective of a business coach goes far beyond sorting likes and dislikes but to the extent of uncovering useful hidden talents, and potential.

Increased Focus on Ideas and Business Needs

Hiring enhance creativity as they present increased opportunities to brainstorm ideas together fine tuning them with almost never leaving the business. Also, they ensure focus isn’t lost from the business goals employees, clients or family. Business coaches ensure priority remains on the business without sacrifice of other parts of life such as health which are important to successfully integrate for guaranteed success.

Goals Management and Accountability

Audacious goals are always well understood by coaches and they collaborate to enable realization. Managing business goals though isn’t a quality possessed by many entrepreneurs. With the help of coaches, there is understanding of how classification and follow up can be set up to monitor progress with respect to goals.

Setting up, managing and realizing the most audacious business goals hardly come without accountability during to someone. Your coach plays the role of an accountability partner with the responsibility of reminding you of set goals and promises to be fulfilled.

Having highlighted some of the benefits of hiring a business coach, it is fair to conclude all businesses especially start-ups and struggling projects would improve management, marketing and particularly fundraising with ideal social business coaching increasing expansion capability.

College Preparation For First Generation College Students

Just this afternoon I had a brief conversation with a woman whose daughter is now in high school. My wife and I have a son who is now in college and when (I’ll call her) Rosa and I originally talked about our kids some years ago her daughter was in the 4th grade. That was seven years ago.

We’ve talked about school and college and college preparation before. It just so happens that I volunteer with a group called Reality Changers that could be a help to her daughter. I have been a tutor with them for over five years and now I also teach public speaking to those who come early to our Monday night program in Solana Beach, California. Part of the reason that I volunteer is that I didn’t have the resources available 30 years ago that Reality Changers provides. I know what it is like to be qualified for college and not have the support.

Reality Changers helps build first generation college students. Students who qualify attend what we call “RC” for free. There is also a College Apps Academy that focuses on college applications including personal essays for those applications. If you Google College Apps Academy or Reality Changers I’m confident they will come up. In fact, if you search for the Reality Changers YouTube Channel you will find over 200,000 subscribers and close to 100 Million views.

Recently one of Reality Changers’ graduates was on America’s Got Talent with his daughter. On Saturday at the RC graduation ceremony at the University of San Diego I saw another graduate give a moving speech in front of over 1500 people about living in his car with his family for years before finally getting an apartment and joining Reality Changers in 11th grade. Now he is a sophomore at UCLA and he considers this a victory for those who are homeless as he once was.

What I’m getting at is that this nonprofit is not exactly anonymous. More and more people find out about it everyday. And not only is it not anonymous, it’s truly productive and lives are being changed.

During the past decade or so, Reality Changers has grown from four students in the original class – one of whom was the performer on America’s Got Talent that I mentioned in the paragraph above – to around 100 graduates this year.

This year those students graduating high school have earned over $10,000,000 in scholarships. In the past 11 years RC students have earned a total of over $25,000,000 in scholarships.

The opportunity for students is there. You have to reach out and take it. Schools can now get the College Apps Academy on their campus.

Whatever enrichment program you choose, start as early as you can so that you make it part of your routine and budget your time around it. My parents were told when I was entering 7th grade that they needed to start getting me ready for college and they laughed it off. How crazy to think about college so early. The years go by before you know it.

Even though I’ve been mentioning the free program in our community for years, I am sorry to say that Rosa and her daughter don’t seem to be interested. She says that her daughter is interested in going to college, but she thinks she’s too busy for Reality Changers.

My concern is that some people could end up going to college at a “lower level” than they could have. With the right preparation a student might get a full ride scholarship to Columbia instead of simply attending San Diego State on a partial scholarship. Or maybe they could earn a 3/4 scholarship to the University of Redlands instead of getting a couple thousand dollars in scholarships at a community college. The first student willing to be assigned to me at RC was a guy I’ll call Diego who might not have graduated from high school if not for the program. Diego went on to discover that he loved the atmosphere at Palomar College, one of the best community colleges in the nation. We have also had 11 students during the history of RC who became Gates Millenium Scholars. Google it! I mention these examples to point out that students of all academic levels benefit from Reality Changers.

While I welcome people who would join us in San Diego County to volunteer alongside us, that’s not the main reason I wrote this article.

I’m sure there is probably a program near you similar to Reality Changers. Maybe it’s not as thorough or maybe it is. We might be biased, but we think RC is one of the best programs in the nation. I hope your local program is thriving like ours.

Take advantage of the resources that are there. Don’t get so busy that you can’t see your way clear to getting your student a mentor and guidance through the process of not only college preparation, but navigating the application process of several colleges.

I’m gratified to know students who were freshmen in high school when I arrived as a tutor who will be entering their junior year in college this fall. In a couple more years I’ll be able to see them graduate from college. Of the first group that I got to know all the way from freshman year to graduation from high school there were three who got into Cal State San Marcos, one at Palomar College, one at UC Berkeley with a full ride scholarship, one at UC Santa Barbara, one on a full ride scholarship to Columbia, two at Syracuse – one on a full ride scholarship – and one is a Gates Millenium Scholar at the University of San Diego.

One thing Reality Changers teaches is that if you are accepted to all the colleges and universities to which you apply, you didn’t stretch yourself enough because you only applied to safe schools. You want to have some ambition and apply to some colleges that you think might reject you. You should get at least one rejection letter. Then you will know that you reached for the stars and you never know, you might be accepted to Harvard or Dartmouth or Stanford or Columbia when you weren’t sure you’d make it.

Learning Styles Are Important Because They Make Learning E3 – Efficient, Effective, Everlasting

For children, learning styles are like sunshine on a cloudy day. They can still play under the clouds, but the bright sun rays energize them to produce more activity. Teaching using materials and approaches that best capture the attention of different learners engages students and transforms information into a deeper level of understanding. This makes auditory, kinesthetic and visual learners most receptive to learning because they can focus on the content without a mismatched communication filter. Some children may show equal preference for two learning styles. But, most children have a primary learning style and a secondary learning style.

As parents, knowing the approaches to how your children learn best will empower you and your children to make the most of their education. Educational toys, study aids and lesson plans for each learning style make absorbing concepts easier with optimal retention. Thus, learning becomes efficient, effective and everlasting.

With this knowledge, you have valuable insights to share with your child’s teacher about how your child engages with information. Instructing using learning styles to teach to different students achieves more efficient and effective results. Yet, not all teachers, and quite frankly, many teachers do not take into consideration the learning styles of individual students. Doing what works best for an individual child is usually not connected to what is most efficient for the teacher’s classroom management. So, the more you can pinpoint techniques that help your children learn better and enjoy their education, the better quality education your child will receive.

Allow me to use a driving metaphor to illustrate the point of how these innate sensory learning styles engage regardless of motivation, environment, etc. Suppose you really want to go to this event, and you have heard wonderful things about it and its members. All the right people will be there that can assist with your future goals and plans. These are really great people and you can also develop a lifelong network of emotional supporters. You get directions to the event from one of the insiders. This person is someone who is “in the know,” and is your benefactor into the group. There is one problem. You are a visual person and your benefactor, let’s say Ben, is kinesthetic.

Ben is familiar with the location of the event because Ben has driven this direction many times before. As a result, Ben knows how to get to the gathering, but does not remember any street names. Ben is giving you directions. Ben begins, “You know the busy intersection on north Mopac where there is a shopping center in the upper left quadrant coming from the North.” Your benefactor is talking in coordinates because Ben’s brain functions in dynamic info. “You can grocery shop, get a drive through burger, and used to be able to take your kids to gymnastics,” Ben goes on to explain. These directions seem perfectly reasonable to Ben because he does not realize everyone does not mark locations based on the activities they conduct. For Ben, it is the movement and the intersection of the information that registers. Now, as a visual person, you are lost because your mind is picturing all the grocery stores along Mopac. You visualize every location of the first drive through burger joint that comes across your mind. The information about lower right quadrant sounded like Charlie Brown’s teacher talking – whomp whomp. You are visual! These spoken directions are confusing. They have no steps to follow, no landmarks to visualize. With more probing questions on your part, and a mild to moderate degree of frustration, you ultimately arrive at your destination. But, when you do, you are not your best. In the back of your mind, you are preoccupied with the thought that you are going to be continually challenged to learn from your benefactor. If Ben cannot give simple directions, you start thinking the future possibilities of this gathering may not be all that they say. You find each time a gathering is scheduled that you are less enthusiastic about going because you know you will have to go through Ben to get what you need. You may ultimately choose to stop going to the gatherings altogether.

The reverse situation often happens for many kinesthetic (tactile) students, but the end results are similar. Students with kinesthetic learning styles are forced to sit in chairs all day with limited movement. This teaching approach diminishes their attention and renders them less receptive to learning. Because they have a quick grasp in applying knowledge, the introduction of concepts should be varied for these students. Their ability to process two or more math strands at the same time makes them candidates to be great math students. However, the same math concept is usually taught for four to six weeks. Consequently, school does not achieve the full potential of these kinesthetic students because subjects are presented in a static manner. Overtime, the students who lack support or motivation for school perform poorly and/or drop-out.

In looking at another example, suppose Vivian, your benefactor, is a visual person. Of course, you are not. Vivian starts off well with simple directions. Vivian instructs you to exit 610 at Sheppard, take a right, and go 6 blocks. Now, it starts to get complicated. Vivian, too, has traveled to these destinations many times before, and there is a street sign down at a crucial turn. Vivian says, “You know the Quickie, convenience store, on the corner?” You say, “No.” “The convenience store with the yellow sign that you pass on the way,” continues Vivian. You are silent. Vivian, being helpful, “You have to start looking because your turn is just past the convenience store,” says Vivian. Again, you interject, “I have never seen a convenience store in that area.” Vivian keeps talking because oral language often cannot compete against the visual images in Vivian’s mind. Vivian is still picturing the Quickie store. Vivian cannot fully comprehend that you do cannot picture the store as clearly as she does. “You have to start looking because your right turn is just past the convenience store,” finishes Vivian. As a naturally auditory or kinesthetic person, you never paid any attention to the convenience store because it did not have relevance for you. You are concerned along your drive that you may miss the turn. You proceed along because the directions given to you state the street to turn on is located after the convenience store. You arrive at your destination after anxiously looking for the convenience store. Thus, you are not a confident driver. Because you spent so much time looking for the convenience store, your attention was diverted from the route. You will not remember how to get back to this location on another occasion.

Many children muddle through assignments that could have been made simpler with learning style enhancements. They feel discontented with their education. The most dissatisfied students drop-out when the frustration of the educational system overcomes the promise of a bright future.

Our children depend on parents, teachers, administrators, curriculum writers and textbook manufacturers to get them to their destination. What often gets overlooked is that many children go through schooling not achieving their full potential. Their best is substituted for arriving at a precise answer or getting an acceptable test score. Instructions are given to children via textbook, classroom instruction, and so on that takes for granted the needs of different learning styles. As parents, we want our children to learn and enjoy their educational journey. During a journey filled with engaging examples and study aids that best fit how they learn, children thrive. Developing solid learning foundations early based on self-awareness of auditory, kinesthetic and visual learning styles will be helpful in school adaptions, doing homework, and studying independently later in life. Teaching to learning styles produce lifelong learners who actually enjoy learning.

Physical Education in Our Schools

Physical Education is a vital part of our public education system. It is a key to improving a child’s confidence, brainpower and long-term health. One of the major goals of physical education is to prepare students to be active and healthy for a lifetime. Physical education should be an integral part of the total education of every child in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Recognizing the importance of physical education at a young age promotes healthy habits throughout life. As modern life becomes more sedentary and specialized, particularly for those who live in cities, the importance of physical education increases. It is important that children understand the importance of Physical Education and good health in their lifestyle. Schools should also recognize the importance of physical education.

One significant area of concern is the decrease in the physical activity of youth and of physical education in schools. The need for more physical education in schools is increasingly obvious to parents and healthcare professionals as well as professional educators. This is a great first step in elevating the role of physical education in schools.

Teaching physical education and play are as crucial to a child’s development as any academic endeavor. Teaching physical education majors study the effects of physical activity on the body and mind, especially in the development of young people.

Physical education is a supremely important component of a child’s development. Physical Education is an important aspect of a total education. Again one of the major goals of physical education is to prepare students to be active and healthy for a lifetime. Physical education is key to improving a child’s confidence, brainpower and long-term health. The aim of physical education is to establish a culture of health and fitness, which is for the benefit of society. Quality physical education should be provided to all students as an integral part of K-12 education.

Exam Nerves And Hypnosis

One of the biggest problems for today’s students is exam nerves. When it comes time to test what they have learned in their classes, exams simply present huge problems. It does not matter how well prepared the student is. After twenty hours of studying, the student could still be nervous about the exam. Exam nerves are a normal thing, though. They begin at an early age, as parents put pressure on students to perform well in school. From that performance pressure was born a whole generation of students, be they middle school, teenagers, or college aged students who simply do not like exams.

Exam nerves are a huge problem that can manifest itself each and every time an exam happens. The biggest risk associated with exam nerves comes with the added stress that students have to face. Stress can cause a whole laundry list of physical and emotional ailments, so it is important to keep that out of life. Since exam nerves are one of the biggest producers of stress for many people, there needs to be a solution. Problems with exam nerves are deep rooted, though. They have been around for years of the student’s life. Perhaps they started when he or she was a kid and parents put a ton of pressure on them. How does one shake such a well positioned problem? It has a lot to do with a change in thinking.

If students can change the way that they view performance and exams, then the stress of exams will be lifted. If students have confidence in their ability to score well on exams, then they will be happier in their life. After all, the younger years are the best years. Why should you spend them being nervous over an impending exam? You don’t have to. You simply must find a solution that works for you. After practicing hypnotherapy for a few years, I can tell you that hypnotherapy is a good solution for problems like exam nerves.

Hypnosis is not just something you would see on a trip to Las Vegas. It is really a very good solution for exam nerves and a whole host of other issues. I have successfully treated clients who suffer from more serious things like smoking, alcoholism, or gambling addiction. In the end, it all comes down to a change in thinking. With hypnosis, you can achieve that change. Get some information today and get over that nervousness with your exams.
